HHIT’s Drone-Borne Hyperspectral Imaging System Infuses Technological Impetus into National Ecology Day

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), together with relevant departments and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, hosted the opening ceremony of the main venue activities and a symposium on practicing the concept of "Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains Are Invaluable Assets" in Beijing. Various regions also carried out relevant activities with local characteristics to advance ecological civilization construction to a new height. HHIT’s self-developed drone nest-integrated automatic monitoring system for drone-borne hyperspectral imaging is leveraging technological innovation to inject new vitality into the practice of this great concept, playing a key role in various fields of ecological protection.



This drone nest-integrated automatic monitoring system for drone-borne hyperspectral imaging takes HHIT’s self-developed hyperspectral imaging technology as its core, while integrating industry-leading UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) flight platforms and drone nests. It addresses multiple technical challenges, including flight control, video transmission, safety monitoring, automated data processing, intelligent early warning, and remote upgrades — significantly lowering the user threshold and realizing, for the first time, a truly fully unattended hyperspectral remote sensing monitoring operation mode.


 

I. Fully Automatic Takeoff & Return, Intelligent Path Planning



Equipped with a lightweight hyperspectral payload system, combined with industrial-grade UAVs and automated drone nests, the entire remote sensing monitoring system enables automated task planning and execution. The UAV features autonomous flight capabilities, supporting intelligent path planning and dynamic obstacle avoidance — greatly enhancing flexibility and safety in water quality detection and environmental monitoring scenarios.

II. Remote Monitoring, Real-Time Adjustment


The system provides real-time data feedback at the ground station, allowing remote access to the equipment’s operation status, task progress, and real-time data streams. During operations, users can monitor the working status at any time or take manual control, ensuring the smooth progress of tasks. For example, in water quality detection, remote monitoring and management enable staff to keep track of water quality data collection in real time. If abnormal monitoring data is detected in a certain water area, the UAV’s monitoring focus can be adjusted immediately for more detailed detection of that area.

III. Data Processing While Flying, Real-Time Report Upload


By acquiring data in real time through hyperspectral sensors, the system can complete preliminary data processing and inversion, and upload the inversion results to the cloud platform in real time — providing immediate support for decision-making and eliminating the need for long waits in laboratories.

The system has built-in multiple algorithms for water quality monitoring, vegetation indices, etc. A single system can support multiple application scenarios such as agriculture, forestry, water quality, and urban areas, maximizing its ability to meet the needs of low-altitude comprehensive remote sensing monitoring.
